Welcome to the Galveston Police Department web site.

As the Galveston Police Department transitions to community-oriented policing during the next few weeks and months, it’s occurred to me it would serve us well for our customers to know of the changes that have taken place, especially as it relates to the organization.
Geography has a major influence on crime. The features and characteristics of cityscapes and rural landscapes can make it easier or more difficult for crime to occur. The placement of alleys, buildings and open spaces, for example, affects the likelihood that a criminal will strike.

Combining geographic data with police report data and then displaying the information on a map is an effective way to analyze where, how and why crime occurs.

Our Department
As many of the citizens of Galveston may know, the Galveston Police Department is preparing to make a full transition to a community policing oriented agency. To keep you better informed of the programs and current issues facing your community, we have given each community its own webspace.

Each of these areas is run by the command staff responsible for the quality of life issues for that community. You may report a multitude of quality of life issues, make request for additional police services, and keep abreast of the latest police related news in your community. We invite you to begin using this resource.
