GPD SWAT Team Responds to Potential Barricaded Fugitive

 (Galveston, TX) March 28, 2012 – At approximately 5:00AM today the Galveston Police Department (GPD) received a report of gunshots at 3706 Spanish Wells Drive.  Officers responded to the scene and were advised that a possible out-of-state fugitive was inside the west end residence.

 GPD officers attempted to make contact with the suspect via loudspeaker, but were unsuccessful. The Tactical Response Unit, comprised of the SWAT Team and hostage negotiators, was requested and deployed to the scene.  Upon arriving, SWAT Team members established a safety perimeter while hostage negotiators repeatedly attempted to make contact with the suspect.

 Officers requested a warrant to conduct a search of the residence.  Just after 11:00AM SWAT Team members made entry and located a deceased male subject with a gunshot wound.  Galveston Police Department Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators are conducting an investigation into the incident.
